Northampton County's "Impartial" Election Comm'n

While behind enemy lines last night at a "party" that the Gracedale Goons hosted for Democractic Controller and Council candidates, guess who was in the House? Nicole Schlener, Vice Chair of the "impartial" Northampton County Elections Commission. Remember them? They're the group that did an about face on the Gracedale Initiative. That body might still be called upon to make determinations concerning that initiative. Nicole has just managed to disqualify herself from any further participation. Her ex hubbie, Jim Schlener, is a VP of the LV Labor Council and is affiliated with the IAFF and UFCW unions. The former chair, Ken Kraft was there, too, but he gets a pass because he resigned from the Elections Commission and is a Council candidate.

I've encountered Nicole and Jim Schlener at different times. You're right, they're both goons. Jim Schlener goes around saying if you're not a progressive you shouln't be a Democrat. He's also two faced and while publicly supporting Callahan for Congress he would bad mouth him behind closed doors.

These people have no integrity what so ever. All he and she care about is being a bully.

When I worked for the County, I thought that it was ridiculous that I had to remain impartial. I thought that it was quite heavy handed that I was not allowed to attend political events. Now I realize why those rules are so important. Perception ...

Alex were you the Barber at Gracedale if so that was a union position and I don't know why you could not attend political events or be forced to remain impartial.

Way to point out another unethical hack. When we finally jettison this garbage we'll be much better off.

Fr. Alex spent several years in Domestic Relations and as a probation officer. As a judicial employee, he could not participate in partisan politics and is correct. The world does not begin and end at Gracedale.

"Way to point out another unethical hack."

If the elections commission has to meet, it should be without her. Frankly, I think it so tainted that the courts need to assume responsibility as they did for a time in Allegheny.

Maybe they should just ask Angle who should be on it right? How about the courts assume the power of the administration to clean out the corruption.

Bernie O'Hare said...

See, there really was corruption ot long ago, and people went to jail. The people (We, the People) elected a man who stood for integrity.

All the cronies who were used to the good ol' days set about a vicious smear campaign to bring this man down. He ran for reelection using his own money only and won easily in spit of all the venom.

We, the People, are smarter than you think. They have seen through your lies and smears for years.

Now Nicole Schlener compromised her integrity as well as that of the Election Comm'n by being at that event. She should step down and the court should be asked to make all decisions of that Com'n until it can be properly reconstituted.

BO , let me ask you this , if Nicole should step down for attending that afair then it would only be fair that Angle should step down for being there also.
What is good for the goose is good for the gander. And I don't know where you should step-- after doing that in front of those kids.

You're insane.

Nicole is a member of a quasi judicial body that may be called upon again to make determinations about that initiative. Angle is a member of County Council, which is a partisan body of government.

The analogy is typically flawed.

Anon 7:21 PM, you are correct. I was the Barber at Gracedale. And Bernie is correct. I was a judicial employee.

We couldn't endorse candidates or donate to their campaigns. We were not even allowed to place political signs on our properties or persons. I believe those restrictions are still in effect.

Those rules make perfect sense.

If you want to ask Ms. Schlener that question, call her and ask her. Do not do it here.

Was wondering how one gets on the election commission? Appointed by the county? I guess this is volunteer?

Bernie O'Hare said...

The majority boss sends 3 nominees and the minority party boss sends 2 nominees,. The exec forwards them on to Council for confirmation. The selection of this quasi judicial body is entirely political, in my view a shortcoming under our Home Rule Charter. No provision is made for independents or members of minor parties.

The attractive young lady has broken no laws and is entitled to attend any event she wants.

Would you be screaming if a Republican Election Board member attend a teabagger event?

This was no different.

Hypocrite!

Bernie O'Hare said...

I would make the same observation if a R election commission member were at a sell Gracedale rally.

Then you should start commenting about Joan Rosenthall, and her Tea Bagger connections Bernie

Anonymous said...

Oh thats right, you DONT ATTEND those meetings

Bernie O'Hare said...

If Joan Rosenthal were involved in some party advocating the sale of Gracedale, I'd be pointing it out. I was against her appointment, by the way bc I thought it was time for less political people. And I have attended more election commission meetings than any sitting member of council except Angle.
