Wayne Grube Remembered

"A good friend is hard to find, tough to lose and impossible to forget."

Those are the words of State Rep. Rich Grucela. Former Northampton County Council President Wayne Grube was Rich's colleague and friend for over forty years. When Wayne passed on unexpectedly on November 11, 2008, it hit Rich very hard. Some say that had a lot to do with his decision to step down from the state house.

In February 2009, the state legislature unanimously honored Wayne with a citation that Rich proudly hung on his office wall. But now that he is retiring, he thought it should go to Northampton County Council.

Rich, accompanied by his wife Gina, presented the citation and portrait on December 2. One of the receiving Council members, Bruce Gilbert, was a captain of one of Grube's undefeated football squads from Easton High School

For a moment, Council members forgot about party differences and laughed as they told Wayne Grube stories, remembering a fallen friend.

After leaving Council, Rich was kind enough to say a few words to all of you.

And Wayne would be telling all these hypocrites to go to Hell. he loved and protected Gracedale and now these wackos want to dump Gracedale and sell off the seniors.

I think he would tell this county Council to shove their bullshit kind words.

No question he would have fought against Gracedale's sale. But I could respect that and doubt he would be calling anyone names just for disagreeing with him.

My dad taught me to be socially responsible, carry insurance, and don't leave a mess to clean up after you die.

Wayne had an idealistic view of boondoggles like Gracedale, and a troubling, casual attitude toward fiscal responsibility.

He left a big mess and should not be applauded.

I'm sorry but since Rich is retiring from public office, I will no longer tolerate anonymous personal attacks against him. You will have to identify yourself and do so clearly so we know where to have the libel complaint served. I already know quite a bit about you thanks to my statcouter, and will happily forward this information to Rich so that he can have a subpoena served on your ISP, if that is his desire. So you better clean up your act and start acting like a grown up,

Christ O'Hare you are a real piece of work. You encourage people to anonymously comment then you pick and chose the comments "you" find offensive. I have read some real nasty comments about some people you don't like.

Rich is a class act and I doubt he shares the bitter, vindictive spirit that you posses. So people regardless of their passion should have no fears from him. He is no Ron Angle.

Politics inspires a range of emotions and you allow your old angry addicted persona to play those emotions like a fiddle. You need to see a therapist.

Either allow anonymous postings or not but don't have a double standard for those you like and don't like.

Rich doesn't play your game since he is decent and sane.
