Lou Hershman, Point Guard

I was at a Lehigh-Dartmouth basketball game with the Allentown Watchdog, Lou Hershman, last night. Our grandsons play for Notre Dame's two 4th grade teams, and they scrimmaged each other at half-time. Parents and kids both had a blast, and even the smallish holiday crowd got into it.

But the real treat came during second half. Lehigh was struggling, and Lou was getting worked up about all the illegal aliens playing for both teams.

"I'll bet they're drinking fluoridated water, too," he grumbled.

He walked out in a huff and I thought he went home, but next thing I know, he was out on the court, playing point guard. He scored 32 points, one for each year of city service, before fouling out.

THose kids should not be playing basketball. What if they fell or got hurt and needed medical care and turned into Socialists? Keep the home eating chips and getting fat and lazy like good capitalist Republicans who don't need medical care, REAL MEN.

I always laugh at the immigration issue. The truth is there are two special interest on the right and left that ensure that it will never, ever, be looked at reasonably.

On the left you have the fact that when people do become citizens they affiliate with a particular party.

On the right you have the fact that the business interest like avoiding paying people decent wages.

So what you have a wedge issue where no one will offer a real solution but accusations of racism and law breaking getting thrown in both directions.

On the left they are paid for fools because their issues of economic fairness is killed by another political interest and on the right the issue of following immigration laws is thrown out because the people that fund their campaigns make money off this.

So what you have is a true Catch 22 and a lot of shouting and pointing fingers where neither party will take responsibility for the issue.

You know, I am sick of Lehigh always getting better players than Lafayette. I am calling the NCAA and turning this one in. I have hard evidence that Lou used up all his collegiate eligibility. No way they can pass that baloney that he is a fifth year senior that red-shirted his freshman year. Lehigh stinks!

Peace, ~~Alex

Lucky he didn't go into OT. We can't afford anymore OT.

If he really needed more then the 32 points he could have always borrowed from his next game.

Had the Mayor been the ref Lou would have gotten no points for any of his shots.

I'm even willing to go so far as to bet that this game could have ended up with our team scoring minus 12 points with the Mayor doing the ref'n.
