Going Into Final Game, Bethlehem Steelers Undefeated

Running back Dat Lambert (#28) of the Bethlehem Steelers (90 lb. or less), breaks loose and scampers off for a score in a close game this weekend against Allentown's Alton Park. The Steelers are undefeated (7-0) with one game remaining next Saturday against the south side's Bethlehem Saints. All of these teams are part of the 17-team Suburban Youth Football League (SYFL), whose goal is "teaching area youth the basic fundamentals of football, discipline and good sportsmanship."

Bernie, did the Steelers play Emmaus this season?

Banker, Emmaus is in a different division, so the Steelers did not face them. But since both teams have made the playoffs, the Little Green Hornets may get a chance to sting the Steelers.

The Steelers and the Hornets have always had great games, if they do play give a holler I'd like to see it.

This Saturday, these teams finish their 8 game regular season. After that, it is payoffs and I will let you know.

One off the boys who plays for Northampton chums around w/ my grandson. He mentioned that yesterday, but I did not realize they are in the same league. In fact, after their respective games on Saturday, they spent the entire afternoon playing football w/ a bunch of kids in the neighborhood. It's amazing, but a lot of these kids on different teams already know each other.

Dat knows some of the boys playing for East Side (not in the league), Mountainville, Saints, Alton Park, Northampton. They are all great kids.

I have a lot of respect for the coaches, who really spend a lot of time doing this. It is like a full time job, especially if you have a large team.

Thanks for filling me in.
