Dennis Pearson: Mini Tornado in East Side Allentown

The Morning Call claims a "possible tornado" wreaked havoc at Dieruff High School in Allentown's East Side this afternoon. And no, I don't mean the Liberty Hurricanes. They did their damage in Orefield on Friday night.

Dennis Pearson, an East Side civic activist, has a succinct low down.

"At approximately 2:30 PM today a mini-tornado struck a path basically along E. Cedar Street from Irving Street to Oswego Street ..... Extensive damage was done to trees in the area ... In addition homeowners experienced various stages of damages to roof .... Damage to Dieruff High School included fallen trees and broken tree branches .... Windows were broken ... Air Condition units on the roof were blown from their bases and the new rubber roof on the East Cedar Street side of the building were filleted like a fish ... There are no reported injuries .... Emergency forces of the City of Allentown were present to assess damage and limit further damage from the rain ... Dennis Pearson and Bob Jacoby of the East Allentown Rittersville Neighborhood Association were also present to review the damage .... Pearson told fireman that it was probably important to protect the electronic equipment of the Allentown School District Planetarium from water damage if water leaked into the school from a damaged roof ... A little bit later Fire Chief Scherir told Pearson that the Planetarium was secured with protective cover."

I blame Sam Bennett.

BS. Every time that the wind blows hard, people claim it's a tornado.

Ask Dennis if he saw another UFO,?

According to the MC, witnesses saw the funnel-shaped cloud. Dennis' report has credibility.

This is surprising. I was in the area today and didn't notice a thing. It rained for a few hours but that was about it.

I heard o'Hare and Angle were having a debate.

Did Pearson write that? In 3rd person like that? Odd.

Yes, Dennis wrote that.

In Pearson's defense, he wrote it in first person. The "I"s and "me"s were edited out in the version posted here.

In the version I got from Dennis, he refers to himself in the third person. But I did not think it odd bc he was submitting it for possible publication by me, and probably thought I would take credit for his report. I did not want to do that. I thought Dennis' report was well-stated, and as we know now, it is also accurate.
