Hamilton Street Merchants and Riders Have Unlikely Ally - Transit Workers

On Tuesday, I emailed Armando Greco, executive director at LANTA. I'm concerned about his bus company's role in the shabby treatment of Allentown's Hamilton Street riders and merchants. I'm still waiting for Armando's reply.

But I've received another email that's much better. A group of LANTA employees has sided with Hamilton Street merchants and bus passengers. These transit workers are actually "happy to see that people have come together to stand up to LANTA and its administration."

But these workers also report some very specific, and serious, concerns about the "ethics of the Lehigh and Northampton Transportation Authority." I'll tell you about that on Friday.

A post telling us that there is going to be a post? Hmmmm.

A post to tell you (1) LANTA workers support Hamilton St mercahants and riders; and (2) LANTA workers have their own problems with LANTA officials.

That deserves a separate post.

then theres the upcoming post about the mistreatment of squirrels in downtown allentown. there so cute and suffering under the current administration. trees planted with no nuts, abuse by passing pedestrians and with all the crime surronding their homes, omg whats this city coming too. enforce the speed limits to ensure their safety.and the audacity of the current mayor not to meet with them to hear their concerns.gentrification is the real problem and the yuppies who are more concerned about their self image.HHH was right we are judged by how we treat are less fortunate in our society.

It's very revealing that you would equate Allentown's minority merchants and low-income residents with rodents.

Allentown certainly has its fair share of smug elitists who can't handle a little constructive criticism. If the media reports that a business has left because of the high crime rate, the mayor blames the papers for doing their job and telling the truth. No dissent is tolerated from Allentown's cheerleading squad.

You sweep the city's poor under the rug and then write LTEs bragging that downtown Allentown is safe.

How frickin' hard would it be for your mayor to get off his ass and step across the street into the House of Chen or to Loco Dollar Store to listen to what those people say? I realize he can't get there by bus, but perhaps you could carry him on your shoulders. After you're done, you could throw a few pedestrians in front of oncoming traffic.

The Mayor won't go to House of Chen, or the Loco Dollar store, they didn't contribute to his campaign.
But I will contribute, because I want to be part of the chic restaurant row in the 8oo block of Hamilton street. I plan to introduce the international cuisine I have sampled throughout my years of world travel to my Lehigh Valley neighbors. All I want is a KOZ and some tax breaks, and I'll give natives a dining experience they will never forget.
But I'm having trouble coming up with a cool name, like Johnny Manana's.
My first choice was "Cat, it's what's for dinner~!" but the meat council wasn't too keen on it. Then my Attorney said the forgotten Felines people would picket, so I scratched that!
Then I suggested the "Doggie Diner" but I ran into the same issues. Gee, they serve Possum in West Virginia, why would people get so upset?
But now I think I've got the perfect name: "The Pet's are food too! Diner." So what do you think?
I guarantee my Kitty Lo mein is great, and my dogs are really hot!
